Every SREF volunteer works alongside a mentor, a student, or a small business owner in Ghana who is building a self-directed future. Whether you bring an afternoon a week or a fully designed project, your time becomes part of a documented plan we see through — not a one-off visit.

Have a project idea? Bring it to us.
Some of our strongest volunteer relationships start with a proposal, not a role we posted. If you have a funded or self-funded project — a training curriculum, a digital-literacy workshop, a small pilot program — that advances self-reliance in Ghana or Tanzania through education, mentorship or entrepreneurship, we want to hear it before you arrive, not after.
A strong proposal usually does three things:
- Names a specific problem — who it affects, where, and why it matters — rather than a general good intention.
- Treats the community as a partner, not a passive recipient — with a clear plan for how local students, mentors or business owners help shape and carry the work forward.
- Defines success as an outcome — a completed credential, a launched business, a documented skill gained — not just an activity delivered.
